Be a legal resident of the state of Alabama and apply in your legal county of residence.
For Seniors...
Be 55 years of age or older.
Have at least one chronic medical condition and taking daily medication for the condition.
Have an income at 200% of the poverty level (Some pharmaceutical companies allow higher incomes, so please come in for an evaluation even if you feel your income may be too high.)
Have no prescription drug coverage or insufficient drug coverage.
Have a Medicare Part D plan but are in the coverage gap for services (donut hole) -or- have a Medicare Part D plan that does not cover your drugs.
For those who are disabled...
Be any age and disabled. Disabled means that you:
Have been declared disabled by Social Security,.
Have applied for Social Security Disability, or.
Have a doctor's declaration of disability.
Have no prescription drug coverage or insufficient drug coverage. This includes being in the 24 month gap waiting for Medicare, after applying for Social Security Disability.

They are guidelines that determine who SenioRx may assist with applying for prescription assistance programs through the pharmaceutical companies. No matter what the SenioRx guidelines for eligibility are, your final eligibility will be determine by each pharmaceutical company's program guidelines.

What is SenioRx?
SenioRx is a prescription drug assistance program that helps eligible Alabama residents apply for medication-assistance programs offered by pharmaceutical companies.
Does SenioRx provide prescription medications directly?
SenioRx helps eligible individuals identify and apply for prescription-assistance programs. Final approval and medication availability are determined by each pharmaceutical company—not by NACOLG or SenioRx.
Who may qualify for SenioRx?
SenioRx may assist Alabama residents who are:
Age 55 or older and taking daily medication for a chronic medical condition
Living with a qualifying disability at any age
Without prescription drug coverage
Underinsured or unable to obtain sufficient coverage for needed medication
Within applicable income guidelines

What are the eligibility requirements for adults age 55 and older?
Applicants generally must:
Be at least 55 years old
Be a legal resident of Alabama
Apply in their legal county of residence
Have at least one chronic medical condition
Take daily medication for that condition
Meet applicable income guidelines
Have no prescription coverage or insufficient coverage for the medication
Can someone under age 55 qualify?
Yes. A person of any age may be considered if they have a qualifying disability and no prescription drug coverage or insufficient coverage.
How does SenioRx define a qualifying disability?
The program may assist someone who:
Has been declared disabled by Social Security
Has applied for Social Security Disability
Has a physician’s declaration of disability

What are the income limits for SenioRx?
NACOLG generally uses an income guideline of 200% of the federal poverty level when determining whom SenioRx may assist. However, some pharmaceutical companies allow higher incomes.
You are encouraged to request an evaluation even if you believe your income may be too high.
Can SenioRx help if I have Medicare Part D?
Possibly. SenioRx may be able to assist when a Medicare Part D plan does not cover a needed medication or when existing prescription benefits are insufficient. Eligibility ultimately depends on the requirements of the applicable pharmaceutical assistance program.
Can SenioRx help while I am waiting for Medicare coverage?
A person with a disability who is waiting for Medicare coverage after applying for Social Security Disability may qualify for assistance. Contact SenioRx for an eligibility review based on your circumstances.
Can SenioRx help if I have prescription insurance?
Possibly. Having insurance does not automatically prevent you from seeking help. SenioRx may assist individuals whose prescription coverage is insufficient or does not cover a needed medication.
Does meeting NACOLG’s guidelines guarantee that I will receive assistance?
No. NACOLG’s guidelines determine who SenioRx may assist with an application. Each pharmaceutical company uses its own requirements and makes the final eligibility decision.
Are all medications covered?
No. Medication availability depends on the prescription-assistance programs offered by individual pharmaceutical companies. A SenioRx coordinator can help determine whether assistance may be available for a particular prescription.
What documents may I need to apply?
Required documentation varies by assistance program but may include:
Proof of Alabama residency
Proof of age or disability
Household-income information
Prescription and medication information
Insurance or Medicare information
Information from your prescribing healthcare provider

How do I apply for SenioRx assistance?
Complete the SenioRx Intake Form available on the NACOLG SenioRx page or contact the program coordinator for assistance.
Can a family member help me apply?
Yes. A family member or caregiver may help gather information and contact SenioRx. The applicant may still need to provide authorization, signatures and personal documentation.
