Department of Governmental Services

NACOLG's Governmental Services Department writes and administers grants which address a wide variety of needs including: water, sewer, housing rehabilitation, industrial expansion, streets, drainage facilities, recreation, fire protection, as well as community/senior centers. This department assists member governments throughout all phases of a project -- from planning and development to construction and close-out.

In order to meet the needs of the member governments, the Department of Governmental Services works cooperatively with many different agencies including: Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, Appalachian Regional Commission, Economic Development Administration, Rural Development, The Department of Housing and Urban Development, Environmental Protection Agency, Alabama Department of Environmental Management and the Alabama Historical Commission.

The department is responsible for coordinating and administering both NACOLG's EDA Development District, and the ARC Local Development District which provide a host of planning, community and economic development opportunities for the region.
