ARC NEWS
Strengthening the Healthcare Workforce, Infrastructure 🏥
Today, we released an evaluation of ARC health grants that closed between 2017 and 2021.
The report examines data from 96 projects that aimed to improve healthcare infrastructure and services, strengthen the healthcare workforce and advance health across the Appalachian Region.
Over five years, ARC health grants improved outcomes for:
Over 300,000 healthcare patients
Nearly 4,000 students
Over 2,500 workers or trainees
Grant-funded projects also supported more than 300 organizations, reached nearly 150 communities and created over 650 jobs. Over 90% of counties reached by ARC health grant funding were designated as primary care Health Professional Shortage Areas.

COMMUNITY
East Mississippi Community College's Golden Triangle campus will use $500K in ARC funds to support the construction of facility improvements to enhance its Division of Nursing and Health Sciences programs. 🩺
The Catskill Watershed Corporation (CWC) will use $100K in ARC funds to modernize its stormwater data infrastructure. 💧 The new tools will enable CWC to improve its stormwater management programin Appalachian New York.

Due 2/13: READY Local Governments Contractor Proposals
Don't delay! Proposals to administer our READY Local Governments training program are due February 13, 2026. The training program helps local government officials better identify, secure, manage and implement federally funded economic development projects.
The selected contractor will be responsible for administering the application and selection process, developing and implementing the virtual training program, and evaluating participant satisfaction.
