Marion County 2019 CDBG Application Public Hearing

The Marion county Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, June 19th at 9:00 a.m., at the Marion County Public Water Authority Office, 130 Industrial Dr. Hamilton, AL 35570 to discuss the County's submission of an application for the Fiscal Year 2019 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The Commission and the MCPWA are interested in obtaining all citizens' input on community development needs within Marion County. As part of the hearing process, citizens will be asked to verbally assist in the completion of a Needs Assessment document. The document will detail what residents feel are the strengths and weaknesses of the county. Activities that are eligible for funding include the improvement of public works, public facilities, housing rehabilitation, and others allowed by law. No displacement of persons will be proposed. Information to be presented includes the amount of grant funds available, the range of eligible activities that may be undertaken and a discussion of the proposed project that the Marion County Commission is considering for submittal. All citizens are urged to express their views on the county’s most pressing needs.

The Marion County Commission and MCPWA are proposing to extend public water service to an unserved area located near the Bexar Church and Shottsville communities. All citizens, including those in the targeted area, are encouraged to attend in order to comment on the proposed activities.
